Libby Lou is a black Pomeranian that competes in agility. She is Master Standard and JWW girl! She is a very spunky fluff who is very bonded with her human mom. She loves to go secret shopping and to bark at the neighbor dogs. She let me experience companion sports for the first time, and let me learn how to be a good coach along the way. Her favorite foods are chicken hearts, anything fish related and cheese fresh out the wrapper.
She’s the smallest of the crew at just 5 lbs, and has the fluffiest coat that I’ve ever seen or groomed! She has brought much light and laughter in a hard period and I am forever grateful that we found each other, it was meant to be. She loves vegetables and fruits; her favorites are red peppers, broccoli and watermelon. We are working on her agility, and now she has Master titles in Standard and JWW, she has great speed and bravery. Ti Ti loves a good cat toy and would probably eat until she exploded if Mom let her.
Coyote is a 6 year old Chihuahua/Corgi/Dachshund (we still aren’t quite sure). He came from a Chihuahua hoarding situation in 2019. This house had over 84 Chihuahuas inside, they were not fixed, not taken care of, and from what I understand just everywhere. When I picked Coyote up from the shelter his tag said number 64.
We are still working on rehab every day from his old life. He gets better as time goes on, and he loves being a snuggle bug. He is still scared of many situations but he is continuing to learn that the world is not as scary as it was.
Meet Juniper! Juniper is a Blue Merle Toy Miniature American Shepard. She joined the crew at just 10 weeks of age and is on her way to be mahm’s biggest agility superstar.
Juniper likes to keep everyone on their toes, is always looking for something to do and is trying to get everyone to play with her.
Baby Marko is the newest crew member! He is a Tri colored Pom who enjoys exploring and playing with big sister Juniper.
Beans was the first crew member, and is a Papillon-Chihuahua. I got Beans when I went with a rescue to a puppy mill auction. He was put on a transport truck from Virginia to Ohio in the heat of late July. His medical records consisted of a post-it that said he received a rabies shot, his birthday, and that he has had small pups (Proven).
He came a long way since that time in 2008. He was the crew’s ambassador dog who was the best greeter and biggest ham. Beans passed at the ripe old age of 15, but it always remembered in our name, Chibeancrew.
Baby Girl was the first female I became a mom to. She was a Pomeranian/Chihuahua born in September of 2009 and came to me when she was 2 years old after her original family had to re-home several of their dogs. She was my love from the first moment I met her and she will always be a big part of why this site began and our mission of sharing the joy of small poofs with others. She was very sweet and full of spunk and love. She was the leader of the pack and knew how to keep everyone well behaved in the house. She loved tummy kisses and chewing her toys, and she was a nut on the walk. She was an amazing creature and I will forever be grateful to be her mama. Baby passed away in 2019 from complications from mitral valve repair surgery. She taught me so much in such a short period of time and she will forever be remembered, loved and missed.
Lil j was the second kid that was adopted into the crew, he was labeled as a Papillon/Chihuahua on Pet Finder. He was found wandering the woods and that’s how he became the little fox man. Lil j was the first dog that really, truly taught me how important nutrition was. j had seizures occasionally that seemed to be triggered by stress, certain medications and also food. I used to feed kibble intermittently throughout the day and certain brands of food seemed to trigger seizures a few days after snacking on it. Foods that were marketed as the best of the best seemed to set off a partial seizure a few days later. I knew instantly that the kibble wasn’t good enough for my sensitive guy and slowly switched over to all homemade. Lil j thrived on the homemade diet and his seizures were very rare. I learned he needed to stay away from excess vaccinations and flea and tick medications and he showed me how much nutrition played a role in our pets lives.
As j aged his seizures became more frequent and eventually home cooking didn’t help. We started him on keppra at 16 and immediately I knew that it was not the answer for him. He couldn’t seem to be able to remove the medicine from his body. I took him to an integrative veterinarian where we found out that he had a liver bile duct problem and his liver enzymes were super high after eating. Limiting his protein, liver support, and a small amount of a seizure medication (one not processed by the liver) helped him for the next few years. Lil j passed away at the ripe old age of 18. He was a very sweet soul who enjoyed running and eating and trying to do everything Beans would do. His arch nemesis was a Jack Russel that paraded by our first house that made him very angry! He brought much life and laughter to our lives and he taught me so much about combining different modalities to ensure the best health for these fluffy kids.
